OVPR Internal Funding Programs
The Office of the Vice President for Research sponsors several grant programs for NMSU faculty and students. The programs and the purpose of each are:
- Interdisciplinary Research Grants (IRG): The Interdisciplinary Research Grant program encourages inderdisciplinary research activities that have a high potential to receive external competitive funding and require collaboration among faculty from two or more disciplines.
- Graduate Research Enhancement Grants (GREG): Graduate Research Enhancement Grants attract and retain outstanding graduate students at NMSU, and enhance the research potential and capacity of the university. Continuing students are eligible to apply, but preference is given to incoming doctoral students, doctoral students beginning their research, and incoming master’s students with a thesis option.
- Undergraduate Research Initiative Grants (URIG): Undergraduate Research Initiative Grants increase the involvement of undergraduate students in mentored research and encourage them to pursue graduate level study and research.
- Rising Star Awards: The Rising Star Award encourages research that significantly adds to knowledge and understanding of social science, educational, or humanistic endeavors. All faculty and research staff are eligible to apply; applications from junior faculty members are encouraged.
New awards in each program are contingent on the availability of funding. No funding is available at this time; general announcements to the faculty will be made in the event funding becomes available.
