Undergraduate Research Initiative Grants

New awards are contingent on the availability of funding.  No funding is available at this time; general announcements to the faculty will be made in the event funding becomes available.

Purpose To increase the involvement of undergraduate students in mentored research.  To encourage undergraduates to pursue graduate level study and research.     
Eligibility Awards will be made to NMSU researchers to provide support for undergraduate student research for a maximum of twelve consecutive months. 

Award Details

The OVPR will provide up to $2,500 dollar-for-dollar matching support per student per year; a URIG award must be matched by the student’s advisor, department, and/or college. 

Grantee Responsibilities The faculty advisor and undergraduate student team must submit to the OVPR a report of accomplishments at the end of the appointment.  URIG recipients must participate in the annual Undergraduate Research and Creative Arts Symposium by presenting a poster or an oral presentation; OVPR presents awards to the best poster and the best presentation by URIG recipients.
